February Blues

February is here, and if you're from Sacramento, then you understand that right now the weather is amazing, but mother nature has some tricks up her sleeves (as usual!) and you can trust that more cold weather days are around the corner! Kind of a bummer, I know. But who cares! I am going to soak up all the sunshine I possibly can, meaning mini-skirts are now my go-to base until the rain and cold returns!

I've had this little Lush skirt in my wardrobe for about a month now, but it has been so cold out that shooting photos in it made me shiver at the thought of it! I was waiting for a "70 degrees kind of day," like today so that I could actually wear it comfortably from morning to night! I paired it with this warm, chunky knit sweater that I've hoarded for about three years now and kept the accessories simple with these Le Specs sunglasses, vintage hoops and Adidas slip-ons (not pictured).

When putting this look together, I really wanted to balance out the structured shape of the skirt with something feminine and a bit more carefree on top. Prior to getting out and shooting, I actually wore it around the house with a fitted turtleneck and leather boots but I felt as though this look was a bit too expected, so back to the closet I went! I am thrilled with how this pairing looks (and photographs) and I am planning on keeping up this sweater and mini-skirt combo until mother nature shows her true colors again and curses Sacramento with that summer heat!
