(Vintage) Denim on (New) Denim
Can we all take a second to acknowledge the beautiful weather California is experiencing post the rainy last few weeks!? It may be only March but it's starting to look and feel like summer and me and my wardrobe are more than ready to brace the heat!
White jeans are always a tricky piece, but nothing says spring more than bright and crisp colors. These Topshop jeans are super skinny and make for the perfect canvas to dress up with other pieces. I wanted to embrace the denim on denim trend with this latest look by mixing old with new. Back when I used to redesign denim jackets, I found this bad boy at a vintage shop for $5 and just couldn't bring myself to change anything about it. It was as though someone had worn it, loved it for years and given it the perfect worn-in feel before it was in my hands! It is now one of my go-to layering pieces year round because the denim is totally breathable (because cotton) and let's face it, oversized layers look great over anything! Here I layered it over a Lovers + Friends tank in a classically nautical stripe print and a pair of tan Tony Biancos. The cut out detailing of this tank totally makes this seemingly basic piece something special. Plus it gives an opportunity to show off a trendy bralette if you want! I have a feeling I will be wearing this piece as much as possible come summer. XO
