Pigment & Parchment Workshop Recap
Question: What could possibly be better than learning beautiful calligraphy skills, while indulging on sprinkle donuts, in the lustworthy home furnishing store West Elm? Answer: Not much!
Last weekend I was so lucky to have attended a wonderful, skill-enhancing workshop put on by Rosaura, the amazing illustrator and calligraphy artist behind Pigment and Parchment. First off, if you haven't checked out her work before, make sure you do so (@pigmentandparchment). Rosaura, has been a professional at her craft for years and her work is both beautiful and inspiring. So I jumped at the chance to be able to learn some of her secrets. Her class was held at my favorite home furnishing store, West Elm, in Roseville and it made for the perfect setting and ambiance to learn beautiful calligraphy.
I am not in any way, shape or form an artist let alone a calligraphy artist, but that didn't even matter! Whether you are a beginner or already know a thing or two about hand lettering, Ro's workshop provides tools, cheat sheets and work sheets to expand and enhance your skills no matter what level you are at! She provided each of us attendees with a cute, little kit that provided everything we needed to get started and we were able to take it home with us after so that we could practice even more. Throughout the class, Ro talked about her experiences with hand lettering and provided us with personal advice. The best advice she gave us however was that it doesn't have to be perfect; just have fun with it! With this advice in mind, I felt at ease the entirety of the workshop and had a lot of fun. Plus she provided a drool-worthy display of sprinkled donuts! Who doesn't love donuts?!?!
Bottom line, I highly recommend taking one of her workshops. I am so happy that I can now practice and nurture a skill that was so daunting to me in the past. All of her upcoming workshops can be found on her website listed below and she will also be holding them in different cities, so don't fret if you are not local to Sacramento! Below is a direct link to her website so you can sign up for her next class, a Modern Calligraphy & Brush Lettering Workshop in Grass Valley on September 26, 2015. A big thank you to Rosaura for letting me be a part of this workshop and I cannot wait to take another one of her classes and hopefully see some of my fellow creatives there as well!
